Title: Mouse Scroll Wheel Locks Up the Computer

On occasion when using the scroll feature I get that dreaded spinning wheel. The only option I have at that time is to power the computer down and wait at least 15 minutes. If I reboot sooner the monitor will not come back on. I suspect a video card issue but looking for possible causes and solutions. Thanks in advance. Machine is a MacPro 1.1, 2.66 GHz running Mac OS X
