My grandson sent me a letter on Word.docx. My 2003 word is only Word.doc. Is there a way to open his document "x" without buying Word.docx? Thanks ::)

Is there a way to open his document?
Yes. You need to install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack.

I followed the instructions but it is not showing up in my Control Panel listing. I'm waiting for another letter to test this on. Thanks :P

You can try the word 2007 viewer

or
convert .docx to .doc

Why another letter? I thought you were trying to open the file sent in a attachment you received?

It won't. It just allows you to open the document in Word or Excel depending on type.

Open Office will handle later Word docx files...
