Title: question about a secondary monitor on a laptop
Post by: insaineity on July 18, 2011, 09:50:57 AM
i have a dell studio 1537 with everything in it is factory and i got a few years ago.
someone dropped it and the screen broke.
i needed to know if there was a way to force a secondary monitor as the main monitor on the start up (i have both a TV with a hdmi port and an older computer monitor with a vga cable built in)

Look for keyboard function key(Fn) and the monitor symbol or icon(F4,F7...) on to enable external monitor.

Here is an alternative solution that WILL void your warranty-Disconnect the internal monitor cable inside your laptop. The display will default to the external VGA connector.
