Title: Problem with DVD drive in Dell Inspiron 1100

My DVD/CD Rom is giving problem.I have WIN XP Home with SP2 as my OS. My DVD drive is working all right but my CD Rom is not recognized. I have downloaded the current firmware and the make is Toshiba.When ever I load a CD I get a display saying"windows unable to read the format or that the CD is corrupt" How do I solve this problem?Any solution suggested will be greatly appreciated.

Does the CD drive do the same when you test it on another computer?

yes it is not working when I tried with another computer

Then it's broken.

Did you use the correct jumper settings? Check if you did before you discard it.
