Title: "Operating system not found"
Post by: raoultesla on September 15, 2005, 05:51:38 PM
Could someone refer me to a picture of a Compaq Presario 2178 CL mobo?
I have the manuals on teardown, but, I need to know where the dipswitch/jumper is to reset EVERYTHING.

I am getting the famous "PXE -E61: media test" failure, then "Operating system not found". I have tried to reset boot order and run a CD of Win-nothing, Setup for Bios won't open as an option.
I have been to a couple of other forums where people had the same boot difficulty and no indepth response.

I did get an address from HP,
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm
where I can drive test and format, problem is won't read any disk. And I have not the floppy.

Funny that I am supposed to use Pre-boot eXecution Environment (PXE) by Intel of 1999, when my case says AMD Athlon xp-m.

raoultesla:

Have you tried removing the floppy disk from your floppy drive?
