Hi
I have a DVD RW and CD RW on my pc which worked fine until today. For some reason my pc is not recognising them anymore. When I go to Device manager I see an explanantion mark against them and troubleshooting tells me the following message:
"windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device (code 41)"
Microsfot help is not really very helpful for this error code.
Any help most gratefully accepted.
Thanks

Try removing the devices from the device mananger and reset the PC.

Sorry
How do I do that?
-
To access the device manager in Windows XP:
1. Right click on My Computer
2. Select Properties
3. Go to the Hardware tab
4. Select Device manager under the Device manager section
Right click on the device in question and select remove.

What do I do after I have removed the drivers? They didn't come with cds or anything like that. How do i add them after?

Windows XP will auto-detect and auto-install the CD/DVD-ROM drives upon restart.
If it can not find the drivers (Which is highly unlikely) keep your Windows XP CD-ROM at hand.
