Title: Outlook Bounceback..
Post by: Daniel Sickinger on March 23, 2004, 10:55:07 AM
I am having a problem with Outlook 2000.
Every time I attempt to send an email out I get an almost immediate response from System Admin telling me that my mail is undeliverable.  However I am able to send and recieve mail internally.  If anyone can offer any assistance, please help me out. I will give any info that may be needed, just ask and I will respond.

Thanks, Dan

It is likely that the issue exists with your mail server or settings in Microsoft Outlook for your mail server. Are any other computers in your Internal network able to send external e-mails? If other computers are able to send external mail verify that the mail delivery under Outlook options are the same.

Finally, does the mail being sent from the administrator contain any additional details such as an "Unknown Failure"? With additional details we may be able to provide you with additional information. In regards to the Unknown Failure error see the below link.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. The computer that is having the problem is a laptop that belongs to one of our field employees and she just brought it back into the office yesterday.
We are capable of sending and recieving mail externally on all of the computers on our network except for this one.  We were able to force outlook to handle external mail by changing the pop3 address to our internal mail server and then changing the SMTP address to that of our providers relay server.  This does seem to work for now, but there seems to be no explanation as to why it is working this way. All of the other workstations are configured with our internal mail server handling the incoming and outgoing messages.
