Upon removal of a second instance of XP, my system no longer boots up: missing hal.dll file? Anyhow, I've tried the recover method, but have no idea what I set as the administrator password (must start remembering these kinda things). Anyhow, I'm thinking my only option is to simply reload windows over what's already there.
If I do this what data am I likely to lose. My documents files? MS Outlook email? Internet favorites?
Anyone have any other suggestions to help me through my stupidity :)

Cross reference HAL.DLL (http://www.computerhope.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=1;action=display;num=1127957094)

Well you could always install to the E: drive again just to be able to see what is going on on the other drive and make sure that everything is there.
When you are sure that you can boot to the C: drive you could always ... erase the E: drive again. :-X

Take a look at these two MS articles: reloading Windows XP...I'm sure they will help.
