Title: Home network: print and file sharing
Post by: denisaf on October 11, 2012, 12:00:36 AM
Windows 7 PC and Windows 98 PC are physically connected through a router in a Home Network. Both are connected to the Internet through the router. However, file and print sharing does not work. The firewall of the antivirus appears to allow this sharing between the PCs so there seems to be something else preventing the sharing. Help on networking discusses when the PCs have different Windows but Windows 98 is not included.

Further on this problem. The two desk top computers (Windows 7 and Windows 98) are connected to the Dlink 2380B router by cables. So is the games console. 2 laptops are connected by wireless. So the Home network has 5 devices. However, the Windows 7 only recognizes that computer in the Home network. I suspect the 2380B has to be set to recognize all 5 but Dlink adviser suggested wrongly that it was a firewall problem.
