Since I updated Chrome Browser and Windows updates on Sunday I have been unable to connect to the internet even though my wifi shows as connected - the other computers in the house are working fine. I get a popup box saying 'SSL Protocol Error'. I uninstalled Chrome browser as I thought it was something to do with that but still not connecting. I have tried System Restore but the computer wont restore to the specified dates. Don't know what else to try. Help!!

Sounds like you may be infected...what protection apps do you have ...and when's the last time you updated them and ran scans ? ?
-
Hi,
I've run anti-virus scan and Malwarebytes but no virus showed up
-
Have you checked in your Browser (which one is it ?? ) that SSL accept is on ? ?
-
Hi,
I havn't checked my browser to see if SSL accept is on - now that I've uninstalled Chrome I'm now left with Internet Explorer and Firefox. How/where do I check to see if SSL is on?
-
In FireFox::
Tools/Options/Advanced/Encryption...
Make sure both SSL and TSL are checked...
Re-boot after and login and check.
-
Both are already checked
-
Then somethings changed w/your wi-fi setup...
Try it wired and see if it works...
If so re-visit your wireless setup including all router options.
-
I've unplugged the ethernet cable out of the desktop computer and plugged it in to the netbook but it won't connect to the internet even though the icon is still showing as connected to the internet
-
What all happened prior to this other than installing/un-installing Chrome ? ?
Were you trying Chrome because of connection issues ? ?
Also is this the PC with Win7 on it ?
-
The computer was working fine until I updated the Chrome browser which I've been using for about 12 months. The PC I'm writing this on isn't the one with the problem. However I think I've sorted the problem out, I've restored the computer back to factory settings and its working fine again. Thank you very much for all your suggestions.
