Title: Open Resolvers - Anything to Worry About
Post by: rjbinney on March 30, 2013, 11:32:58 AM
According to this New York Times article (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/30/technology/devices-like-cable-boxes-figured-in-internet-attack.html?ref=global), it seems every man, woman, and child in the world is aiding and abetting the enemy.

OK, maybe that's hyperbolic.

But for those of us running wireless routers, networked Blu-Ray players, running from Starbucks' Wi-Fi to a hotel room to the office... What should we be worried about, and what can be done?

Check with one of these (For the first you need to know the external IP address by which your router etc is seen on the external Internet)

http://dns.measurement-factory.com/cgi-bin/openresolvercheck.pl

This one finds and shows your IP address
