Title: its workin backwards!

have a tech question today. first i will tell ya that i have a 4yr old AMD Gateway laptop with windows vista home premium.

i ran a virus scan cause its been slow and doing weird things. during a NORMAL startup,the virus scanners work fine and tell me i have no issues. ive used AVG and McAfee at different times. (no,i didnt have them both installed at the same time) but when i start the comp in SAFEMODE,the comp crashes during the virus scan. no warning,no error messages,no beeps...it just shuts down in the middle of a scan,like someone cut the power. when i start it back up in normal mode(all programs loaded) it acts like nothing happened. you are supposed to get an error message after a crash when you reboot. what gives?
