Hello
I want to install the driver of a D-Link DSL-200 modem. But installer tells:
"The DSL Modem is already installed. To upgrade the software, you must remove the current software and then run Setup again later."
This USB modem driver has a particular way for install. The modem should not plug into computer until the wizard tells to do this (in the one of ending steps); and then, it tells to plugging in the modem for finishing install.
I think that I have plugged in it and done something before starting install as above; and for this reason some registry and/or files are made, without completing install.
I used its driver remover from D-Link website, but problem remained. I think I have to find and delete existing registry and/or files of driver, but I do not know how.
Please help me for resolving this problem. ???
O.S: Windows XP SP2

Here is user guide for D-Link DSL-200.
http://www.dlink.com/-/media/Consumer_Products/DSL/DSL%20200/Manual/DSL200verB1Manualeng.pdf
Did you read it all the way?
DO NOT CONNECT THE USB CABLE
You must install the software first.
-
Yes. I have read the manual, but unfortunately after connecting the USB cable! And as I said, difficult occurred for the same.
Now I want: How to find and delete registry (and files, if needed) that left from wrong action that create problem for correct installing. Software installer show:
"The DSL Modem is already installed … (as written in topic)."

You don't need to go to the registry...
Go to Control Panel/Devices...right clik the modem and select remove...
Go to Add/Remove programs and remove the D-Link software...
Dis-connect the modem and power down...
Re-boot...install the software and wait til the prompt to connect the Modem.

An ADSL modem with no ethernet connection.

HuH ? ?
It still needs to be re-installed properly...
-
True. But I thought all modems had ethernet, so no drivers needed.
-
It requires drivers...it's ancient...but still needs drivers to work properly.
-
Footnote.
DSL modems with only USB connection should be avoided.
Cheap DSL modems with a Ethernet jack are under $40 at retail stores here in the USA. And the work with any OS.

Thanks, All
Dear "patio"; about device manager, modem is not in it. Although I think if it was installed, it would be in "Network Adapters" (not "Modems").
In addition to, D-Link software is not in the "Add or Remove Programs" list. …
