Title: Deleted USB port drivers
Post by: 246qp on November 02, 2013, 07:06:32 AM
OS: Windows 7
its a custom build computer,
SAPPHIRE HD7870 graphics card
Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 Motherboard.
8Gigs ram

Hello everyone,
I have accidentaly deleted my Usb port drivers because none of the usb ports register my keyboard or mouse when I get to the windows login screen. however if i open the BIOS on startup they both work. I don't know how to fix this because when I get the startup repair screen and it asks me to restore my computer to an earlier working stage i can not use my mouse or keyboard to click on yes. Also I do not have any Ps/2 keyboards/mice if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance

Re-install your MBoard chipset drivers from the Driver CD.

The MBoard should have come with a Driver CD...if it didn't you need to get the correct ones from the MBoard manuf. site...
DLoad it to your PC and double clik the file and setup will run...re-boot after.
The other alternative is have your builder friend over to assist.

I have a dvd but when I startup the computer using the dvd it gives me 2 options:
1) AMD AHCI/RAID WinXP Driver
2) FreeDOS command prompt

Which one do i choose?

Don't boot to it...boot 1st then open Win Explorer and locate the chipset drivers and install them.

If it's Win7 then boot to safemode...tap F8 repeatedly at powerup...don't wait for the Win logo...
Select Advanced boot options...
Then do a system restore to a date prior to the USB driver removal.

Tap it repeatedly...that's not safemode.
