Title: adding files to iTunes

I can't add any files from my computer to iTunes library. I've followed all the instructions and tried many times.  It says you can (option 1) click on files at the top then click add a file or folder to your library.  The window then opens and you click on the file you want (and I've tried many different ones)... But nothing happens. I don't see it or a search doesn't find it.  (Option 2) drag and drop from the file location on your computer.  Nothing happens.  I've also followed the path from my C: drive to the iTunes music files and it's not there.  Any ideas?

Can you please specify what file format you are exporting to iTunes?
