Serious security failings in home routers are getting more attention from both attackers and researchers.
In recent weeks, attacks have been mounted on Linksys and Asus routers via loopholes that thieves could exploit.
In Poland, reports suggest one gang has successfully adjusted router settings in a bid to steal cash.
A separate study found many of the routers sold online have bugs that attackers could easily exploit.

This worm was discovered by Johannes B. Ullrich, Ph.D. of the SANS Technology Institute. He identified the vulnerability in 11 specific models, though it could exist in many more depending on firmware version. Here are the models:

E4200, E3200, E3000, E2500, E2100L, E2000, E1550, E1500, E1200, E1000,E900

A firmware update may help. CAUTION. Do not update your router firmware unless it is really needed. Consult the maker of you particular model.
