Title: Nonresponsive Programs
Post by: Dylan5562 on March 02, 2015, 09:39:20 AM
I have an ASUS K55N that is about a year and a half old. I use it heavily for gaming.

I have been having a problem where my programs become unresponsive. Here is what typically happens, I am playing a game for about 30 minutes smoothly then all of a sudden it will freeze for a second then unfreeze for a second repeatedly. Often at this point I open task manager and restart the program and it runs fine for another  30 minutes, sometimes I leave the program running and after about 10 minutes of this annoying freezing and unfreezing it will run smoothly again but it is more likely to freeze completely and force me to end the task. When I have my web browser open at the same time as the game, the web browser will also become unresponsive. The web browser won't become unresponsive on its own though. When the web browser is unresponsive it behaves similarly to the game,  acting sluggish then freezing and needing to be restarted. I usually have teamspeak 3 running at the same time and it will occasionally become unresponsive when the game does but it clears up rather quickly.

Here some events that happened at the same time I started noticing the problem.... I installed BF4 and played that (this game is too much for my computer specs) and it had the problem said above. This is understandable, but what bothers me is that now most of my games do it. Other events are, my Hard drive became full, I installed a mod for a game, and there was a windows update which may or may not have been interrupted (I don't remember). This all happened 3 months ago.

Right now I have just Firefox open and 23% memory is being used with firefox using the most. If I recall correctly, when I looked at memory when the problem started, when running the game normally total memory use was around 25% and when I was having the problem it was around 50%. It was 3 months ago and I may be wrong, I will try to check again.

Here are the games I play: DayZ (has the most problems but is an alpha test and isn't optimized), BF4 (dont play anymore), Mount and Blade (runs w/o much issue), CSGO (I get 60 fps but it has the problem said above), Skyrim, Minecraft, Total War, Civ 5

Thank you for your help.

UPDATE: Upon further investigation, when running normal .1% disk is used but when the problem occurs it is at 100%
Ignore the part I said about 50% memory in the original post
