Title: CNN Videos won't play and Weather Channel will not open up with local weather

Hi, I have a Windows 7 Home premium Lenovo G780 Laptop 64bit with Intel i5 250 GHz CPU, 6 GB Ram with Intel HD Graphics 4000.  My Internet is Cable with average speed of 30 Mbps.

I can not play any videos from CNN or get the Weather Channel to show me my local weather.  This is on all browsers (IE 11, Firefox & Chrome).  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the latest versions of Adobe Flash Player as well as Shockwave.  I have also uninstalled and reinstalled all 3 browsers - no change.  I've also tried in private mode on all 3 browsers and no difference.  I have also run a full virus scan (AVG and Malwarebytes) as well as SuperAntiSpyware, nothing comes up.

I can access CNN Website but when I go to see a particular page that has video, the video player is just black and nothing happens. 

I can access the main Weather Channel site but when I click on my bookmark or even try to access local weather, the upper tab shows a spinning circle  and it says "transferring data from g0.imwx.com.

Any help anyone can give would be most appreciated.

Malware using fake Adobe Flash has be documented over and over. Adobe is doing the best they can, but the criminals are really at work to do harm.

You may be infected with unknown malware. Or a malware that hides from scanners.
There is no reason for g0.imwx.com to intercept your requests. The site is lacking credibility. That is a clue that something is wrong.

Can you try another computer to compare?
Or can you go to friend's house and  get the site on your tablet or smartphone?

If you find that other computers are not infected, your PC is  infected.

Thank you for your reply.  I have an older laptop in home that does not have problems with CNN or Weather Channel.

Can you recommend another course of action seeing as my current antivirus program does not seem to be working?

Post your message there and somebody will soon help you.
They cab do it much better than I can. Give it a try.

Hi - I deleted your post in the malware section for now. The problem you describe (no videos on only two sites) does not sound like malware, though the fact that your av "isn't working" is trobulesome. Let's try a couple of things:

1) Are you using any spyware or ad blocking programs? Look at this link and see if it applies: http://forums.untangle.com/networking/945-spyware-blocker-weather-channel.html (http://forums.untangle.com/networking/945-spyware-blocker-weather-channel.html)

2) I'm guessing the above will work for you. But more important, what do you mean your av program isn't working? Please explain and be specific. It is important that you have an active av program running and updated.

3) Please download and run a full scan with the free version of MalwareBytes (it is not INSTEAD of an av program, but in addition to one)

Thanks for your help.  I think I do have malware because every time I go over to the Malwarebytes website and go to where it allows me to download, my browser automatically directs me other websites.  But I'll keep trying.

I finally downloaded Malwarebytes but it didn't find anything.  I feel that I should also mention that I am unable to get into Safe Mode at all.

I do have Antivirus software (changed over to Panda) but it is not coming up with anything.  That's why I said it doesn't seem to be working - if there is indeed a virus, it's not catching it.

Sorry - I forgot to add one more thing:  I have checked and I do not have any spyware or adblockers turned on in any of the browsers.

Do you now have more than one av installed? If so, please choose one and uninstall the other - you should never have more than one av installed (it's okay to keep MalwareBytes with your av).

Hello again, I did have AVG installed but downloaded Panda and uninstalled AVG.  Sorry for the headache and thank you again for all your help.

Okay - and it's no headache - that's what we're here for. Just an observation if I may - it's been my experience that when an av doesn't find malware it's more likely that there's no malware than it is that the av isn't working properly. But having said that, the bad guys develop malware a lot faster than the av makers can keep up with it - so I'll keep an eye on your thread in the malware forum with great interest - and good luck :)
