Title: Message,"Found New Hardware-Windows needs to install driver software for USB Co"
Post by: gitpiker41 on March 16, 2015, 08:58:04 PM
I'm at a loss as to how to get rid of install wizard message, "Found New Hardware - Windows needs to install driver software
for Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller". Remains on desktop.  My printer is USB attached and working fine.  I've been into
the Device Manager and tried seemingly everything possible...with NO success.  Desperate for help...thanks!

You are using Vista? How long has the problem beenwith you?
What printer do you have? Some all-in-one printers require install of up to three devices to be complete.

You need to re-install the MBoard chipset drivers for that PC...they will be on the Driver CD that shipped with the PC.

Re-boot afterwards.

Many thanks for the responses...& regrets I couldn't get back before now.  My laptop is a Dell Inspiron
1525 with Windows Vista and my printer is multifunction, Canon MX390 series.  It is USB-attached to my
laptop and working fine.  I use this printer for the 3 months away from my home printer.  Being away, I
don't have access to the disc for either the laptop or printer.  All worked well last year for the 3 months,
but the problem began immediately when I connected the two devices 3 months ago.  I've gone to the
Canon support site and installed the drivers called for.  The Printer folder shows my Canon MX390 series
Printer/Fax "ready".  The Device Manager lists both under "Printers".  An obvious problem: under "Other
Devices" is listed "MX390 series" with a yellow!.  Many times I've uninstalled it, but it returns after reboot.
Listed under "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllers" are: MX390 series, Universal Serial Bus (USB)
Controllers (7 listings), Unknown device (7 listings), USB Printing Support (2 listings).  Without having
the disc with me, I saw the "motherboard" data in my BIOS (Dell OU990C Microprocesssor) & Chipset
Model GM965.  I attempted to re-install from an online search and was informed they "exist already".
I would appreciate and welcome any help anyone can offer.  Again, thanks!

This link claims to be a source for the manual:
http://support-th.canon-asia.com/contents/TH/EN/0301016401.html
However, I notice it is an EXE file.  I was not able to run it.

Again, thanks for the suggestions...but, the owner's manual offers no help in my case.

The laptop drivers should only come from the laptop manuf. site...enter your Model # and Win version.

Do this with the printer disconnected...then reinstall the Printer software with it still dis-connected...in the install it will prompt you for when to plug it in...

Just to clarify why you need to do it this way...the message you are getting involves the MBoard drivers for the laptop...once thats fixed and you re-do the printer software you should be good to go...
