I am running Windows XP home edition on my PC. I started to update Windows by installing service pack 2 for Windows. Partly through installation I received an error message that said the installation had to quit because of errors. I then kept receiving an error dialogue box that said "APPLICATION ERROR SMSPAINT.exe the instruction at "0x77e7650d" referenced memory at "0xc670ffbc". The memory could not be read. I rebooted in safe mode but I continue to receive this error message or a dialogue box that reads an error message "APPLICATION ERROR DSUOEX32.EXE".
Is there any way to remove these files? I have run a search for file but nothing comes up.

Check for viruses , spywares. etc.
None of these file are Windows files. Or some application you have recently installed cause this.
Remove recently installed suspicious program and try again.
