Title: Can't Update Windows Updates

 I guessing more than not it's a virus. Actually because of this road block, I haven't been able to update for sometime. When I get to Service Pack 2, it gets "stuck". Just says "Updating" for hours at a time.
 
 Any suggestions ?

 Once I download the file and click on run, my computer says, Windows cannot access the specific device, file, or path. you may not have proper permission to do so.

1) Create an image of your system drive with disc imaging software (create the image on an external drive)
2) Download and use the subInACL tool as described in this link (follow the instructions EXACTLY): http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx
3) Reboot and see if you can install updates

 Got what SuperDave wanted me to install and ran program....Now it wants $29.95 to fix it ?? Really ??

Don't pay it. It's a scam. Can you tell me the size of the hard drive and how much free space you have? Did you try Action Center?

 220 GB Harddrive with 40 GB left. I checked action center and have windows updates set to tell me when new updates are avalable

For the most part that worked, but I definitly have something going on in my computer. I've scanned with Norton antivirus, SuperAntiSpyware, Adware Remover and nothing. The desktop icons flash off and on occasionally....Would you like me to start a new threat, or can we go from here...?

I was speaking to a friend last night who re-furbishes computers for schools and he said for almost a month they have been having trouble downloading updates for Windows 7. He said sometimes if you leave the computer on long enough you will get the updates.

Just to give you a update, I restarted my computer and started 80 updates over again. It's been 4 hours and its still at "installing update 1 of 80".

This appears to be a problem with your computer that, unfortunately, I cannot solve remotely. All I can suggest is that you take a look at some of the suggestions here. (https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=updates+downloaded+but+won%27t+install&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001)
