Title: problems with internet

on this computer my internet is fine, but on my other computer...well..here is the story:

i had 2 spare computers so i took them both apart to make one that is a little better. it was working fine, and i was on the internet and everything. It was a windows 98. Well, i just updated it to a windows 2000 professional, and the internet no longer works. It shows that it is connected and running fine, but outlook express, IE, firefox, AIM, and every other program that requires internet does not get it. Am i doign something wrong when i set up the connection? from what it looks like, it is the same connection as this computer...Please help if at all possible

Was this a clean install of W2k?
Did you run the Internet Connection Wizard?

How do you connect ? ?
Modem
Dial up
DSL
Cable  patio.  8)
