Recently my Ethernet suddenly stopped working. I had not installed or uninstalled anything. I changed Ethernet cables and which port it was plugged into in the computer to no avail. So I assumed it was a pc fault as all other devices, Ethernet or wifi were functioning properly. I decided to restore my pc to a time before the Ethernet had stopped. After trying to turn it back on, it gets stuck on the loading screen.

Update: my computer has restored to an earlier date, however the Ethernet still does not work.

You might want to get a new Ethernet card.

What does device manager report for ethernet?
If you need a new ethernet the easiest installation is a USB Ethernet Adapter for around $15 such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812125019&cm_re=usb_ethernet-_-12-125-019-_-Product

Will a usb Ethernet adapter work with a broken Ethernet card, and will it be just as fast?
