Title: will this work for minecraft?

I wanted to get a cheap laptop for my son for christmas.  Preferably under $500 , that will play Minecraft.  Right now he is using a dell 15r 5520 with 8gb ram, an integrated graphic card, and an i5 processor.  He plays Minecraft just fine on it, but gets lag when he tries to use some mods like crazy craft or FTB.  I wanted to get him something a little better or even the same as he has.

I bought this laptop,  but some said it wouldn't work and was worse than I have, others said it was fine.  What do you think?
