Title: Upgrade Windows 98 using OEM XP CD?
Post by: James Meader on December 05, 2005, 04:35:25 AM
Hi

Is it possible to insert a genuine Windows XP OEM cd and upgrade a genuine Windows 98 PC, or do I need to buy an upgrade cd?

Regards

James

You should make a drive image of your current installation, and then do a Clean install of XP.

OEM will do just fine, but to avoid problems, you should reformat the drive and install fresh, after bacing up your data. An over the top install is a risky proposition, but you can try it if brave.
