I have a dell touchscreen desktop that belonged to a family member and it has windows 8 but I don't have the password so I can't login to it at all. I only have the screen keyboard so have no function keys. I am at a loss as to how I can get this computer functioning again. A call to Dell was no help as I am no longer under warranty. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Members of this forum are kind of reluctant to help anybody with password issues.
Are you the original owner of this computer?
Do you have an account registered with Microsoft. Such as an e-mail account on Hotmail or Outlook? A common practice is to use the same password for the e-mail and the computer log in.
Now then, here is what you might do. Try to reboot in the safe mode. This is done by hitting the F8 key early in the boot up. You should get a log in screen that lets you use the system administrator.

If the "family member" does not know the password, it's a brick.

I wonder which model of a Dell touch Screen doesn't have some way to recovery from a lost password. It would help if the poster r gave the model number.

Don't matter what model Geek...we don't assist with it.

Understood.
He said there are no functio9n keys.
Just wondering how do you do setup or diagnostics if there are no alternative ways to boot the PC. Does Dell make touchscreens that have to way to be serviced?

A rule about no help for bypassing passwords?
