Title: HELP Recovering after Blue Death
Post by: GordonJL on December 11, 2005, 03:41:51 AM
This may seem like a stupid question, but I'll give it a try...

Is there any way to recover all (or some) of the information I had lost from a sudden blue-screen-of-death / crash? I had a number of extremely important but UNSAVED files open, and the death screen popped up. Is there anyway I can find the information?

I've read you can find the core dump / physical memory dump copy somewhere; and maybe with that backup or copy, I can access my old information? Or does it not work that way?

I'm feeling really desparate, and terribly depressed after the incident. I'll take any advice I can get!

Thanks,

- Gordon

I apologize; I did not realize I had posted 2 threads.

The website failed to load, so I figured that the first post didn't make it...

It is important to note that I have Windows XP, home edition (although I don't think that last bit of information matters).

I should have said that it is no problem. :)

You just need to wait for the page to load.
I have marked the other post for removal.

Did the BSOD mention that the system was dumping physical memory?

Was there any indication of what was the cause of the incident?

Have you done a search for .chk files?

if you are using microsoft office from xp(i think)
they have backup saving so if your computer just shut down without saving the file it will save it for you
so just open microsoft office

if it isn't microsft office or even older microsoft office i heard that there is program that can get your file back
so read this post
