Hi there, wondering whether anyone could help me. I'm looking to buy a computer with these specs:CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K at 3.5 ghz or faster
Memory: 16-24 GB RAM or more
Video Card: a DirectX 12-capable video card from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel with at least 4 GB VRAM (GeForce GTX 1070 or better or similar from AMD)
And I think I have found one, does this computer run these specs:
Cpu: fx 8350 4ghz black edition
Motherboard: gigabyte 990x gaming sli am3+
Cpu cooler: Cooler master hyper 212 evo (nearly brand new, only used for 2 weeks)
Ram: Corsair vengeance 16gb (4x4gb) 1600mhz
Graphics card: radeon hd 7770
Pc case : Thermaltake Versa n24
5 case fans (4 red LED lights)

If you went with a Intel Build system you would have a CPU upgrade path later if needed to a Core i7. That AMD FX-8350 is pretty much the most that motherboard will handle, so no future upgrade path for processor.
Additionally Intel CPUs for the i5 and i7's run better in single core benchmarks than the FX-8350. AMD fell behind in core design and basically threw 8 older cores together to make a powerful CPU until catching up with newer core design that Intel had. The FX-8350 is a hot blooded CPU. My system pumps out lots of heat when its running and noisy on the stock air cooling fan which runs at 100% speed after starting games.
I own a FX-8350 4.0Ghz and a FX-8300 3.3Ghz and I know that its not a Core i7 in performance but its enough for what I do, however my motherboards are maxed out with these 8-core CPU's and there is no upgrade path for them in the processor department because they are the maximum that my boards support. The motherboard you have listed also is at its ceiling for processor support and so the CPU would be permanent to that build with no better processor available just like my 2 fastest systems that I own. In which I prefer my FX-8300 3.3Ghz because its quieter and not a space heater at 95 watts vs 125 watts of the FX-8350. The FX-8350 also has a 4.2Ghz Turbo mode but my motherboards dont support turbo so they are at 3.3 and 4.0 Ghz without the turbo feature because my boards are lacking that function.
So I say go with the Intel i5 you have listed if you can afford one. Which later you could upgrade to a better i7 but should be plenty for now. Note: You would need a different motherboard that supports the Intel processor. The board you have listed is AMD only.
