PCProtect is apparently a UK program that is not well known here in the USA.
So, my question is thi: s" Is it any good? Is there an honest review?"
I go back and forth between free pro AV products. If I had a job, I would just shell out the money, but I am retied and depend on Social Security. So every penny counts. I save my soda cans. We use LED lights. I use free software. 8)
I found this review after I installed the product.

So, please tell me, have I made a mistake? :-\
I just founds this: :o

Any help, please? :-[

I wouldn't call it exactly a scam or useless, but it's not a very good product. Techradar, which is normally a reliable review site, says it is overpriced and you can get better for less money. They did not like its marketing strategy - PC Protect quote 49 pounds, 61 dollars, for a year, but that's a discounted rate. After 1 year your subscription auto renews at 99 pounds, 124 dollars. You have to call their Customer Service to unsubscribe. Personally I would take advantage of their alleged 30-day money back offer, if it has not yet run out.
PC Protect is Avira's engine plus Windscribe's VPN, stuffed into a crippled interface and bundled with tools you don't need. Get Avira Free instead, buy a VPN, and grab some freeware tools to cover the other features – you'll save money and be better protected.
and...
OUR VERDICT
PC Protect is overpriced and underpowered. Don't waste your time.

Anyhow, what's wrong with Windows Defender and Windows Firewall?
-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Defender
Windows Defender, officially called Windows Defender Antivirus in Windows 10 Creators Update, is an anti-malware component of Microsoft Windows.[2]It was first released as a free antispyware program download for Windows XP, shipped with Windows Vista and Windows 7 and made into a full antivirus program replacing Microsoft Security Essentials as part of Windows 8 and later versions.[2]
Also:

was first released to the public on October 24, 2006. The program is available as a free download and can be installed on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7. Windows 8 and 10 computers already have this program installed and active unless other antivirus programs are installed.
You can download the XP version from Major Geeks.

OK.
The PCProtext program I installed because my Windows XP did NOT have anything .
But after thinking it over and reading the comments, I removed it today and just no installed Windows Defender ver. 1.0 for XP.

Hope you can get your money back...

It appears that Windows Defender for XP is a antispyware program only. You still should install an AV.

Thanks Super Dave. Will do.

PCProtect is indeed an all-in one security solution. It is not only a security product in the sense that it has some antivirus features, but also a VPN service. Now, we won't talk about those two products in this PCProtect review.
