Not sure if posting on the right forum, so if moved I will understand. One of my computers which has windows 7 started getting black squares that blinked when the cursor is moved over them, moved and also some remained still. It doesn't happen all of the time but enough to be irritating. I've run malware and virus programs but am not finding anything. Could my monitor be failing? I have another monitor I could try but haven't yet. I've had monitors fail before but never like this if that is the case.
Computer: HP Pavillion S5120W, 32 bit, 4 gigs ram and I use Chrome browser.

Try another monitor. If it still does that it could also be the video card.

Thanks. The bad thing is, it doesn't happen a lot, just when I'm reading an article I'm really interested in.
-
so it only happens within your browser?do you have any HOSTS file modification or adblocker add-on?
-
Not sure on the HOSTS file modification but no adblocker. I haven't made any HOSTS modification and I don't think the wife has either.

what is your browser?
have you tried reading your articles with another browser?

I believe this could be a video RAM related issue (or system RAM if you are using integrated graphics). I had these symptoms with a Shuttle system. The problem turned out to be one RAM slot was faulty. Could try reseating if you know what you are doing.

I use chrome and have for many years without this happening. yes, I am familiar with reseating the RAM or adding more RAM.
