Title: Review: How Much is a Domain Name?
Post by: Geek-9pm on June 02, 2018, 07:48:08 PM
This is a review of a web site that ttys to answer the question -

How Much is a Domain Name? (https://startbloggingonline.com/how-much-does-a-domain-name-cost/)

I think this is among the best articles on the subject.
He mentions 1and1 and godaddy and some of the others. I do not see any bias. He goes on to warn you about the lessor know sites who make false claims. Watch  out!

And yes,he tells you about the 99 cent first year thing the goes up to $14.95 the next year. A common practice.

Overall, a god read for anybody interested in having their own website.  :D

I favor keeping domain name registration separate from web hosting.   In other words, register your domain with a domain registrar such as godaddy.com, Namecheap.com, etc. and have your website hosted on a separate hosting service.  This avoids problems switching to another hosting service due to having your domain name registered with the same site you use for hosting and discovering some barriers to easily transitioning your website to a new hosting service if, at some point, you want to change your hosting service.
