My mistake was selecting the wrong password manager.
I like to used Firefox. I got a add-on that let me export and import passwords. This was real handy when I needed to wipe my hard drive and install another version of Windows.
Well, in time the add-on got itself deprecated down. Now Firefox will not let me install it. And I do not another add-on that will read the passwords I save in my back Up drive. Does this makes sense? Even an older version of Firefox will not let my get the add-on.
Here is the problem.I have he passwords saved, but I do not know of an easy way to get them into a current version of Firefox.
The Mozilla site was not helpful. They do not allow use of deprecated add-ons.
I can fix this if I can find any new add-on that will export and import passwords in whatever format.
I know there must be a simple answer, but I just can not see it. :'(

Myself, I have my browser save passwords to sites that aren't critical if compromised. All other passwords are either in a text file on my system or if super critical to not be in digital form like banking and credit card sites there are no saved passwords of any kind located on the system and they are instead in a paper notebook that is secure in my home to reference for password and all other information when needed.
I don't trust any password managers with all passwords for all stuff that I log into from time to time. But for example for ComputerHope I have my password stored in my browser so I can just come back and not have to logon.
The nice thing about the text file method for medium security user/password sites is that I can copy/paste from text file to the logon field and logon.
I find my process easy having the 3 levels of security, those low security stored in browser, those medium security stored in text file locally, and those high security that are not stored in digital form on the system so that no one can clean me out if someone had access to the text file.
Lastly I have a computer with latest OS that I use ONLY for online purchases and banking that sees no other use and remains powered off when not in use and all updates and latest scan performed to verify that its most secure as can be before using it for those tasks. This is the most secure I can be other than not buying and banking online. My other systems handle everything else that if someone somehow infected my system with a keylogger etc they are very limited to what they have access to and nothing they could make any monetary gain on. Additionally because I own many systems I test unknown software on a test system first before I bring it over to my actual system that is used for the low and medium security use. So free games and software gets tested for spyware, virus, and other issues such as lacking a clean uninstaller before the software is then used on my system so I wont infect or corrupt my highly customized gaming system from a bad installation off the web. I have an image of this 3rd system so I can wipe it clean and start over quickly to test the next piece of software that is legally freeware after I mess it up if I find that a program had bundled negative features.

I am going to save my critical passwords to a notebook and remove them from my browser. I use latest Firefox.
I am going to try Last Pass free version and serif it is easy for me.

If interested -- may want to look into creating a firefox sync account (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/accounts/) to sync data, passwords, etc. between all the firefoxes on your various devices you may have. (NOTE: Last Pass is convenient, but it is a third party program that does not store anything in the browser.)

I use Dashlane and find it easy and safe.

I use Roboform Anywhere.
It's awesome because it protects all passwords on all devices.
It saves passwords on all browsers.
You don't have to worry about cleaning out your cache or anything else because your passwords are stored in the cloud.
So even if you get a new computer you simply log into your account using your master password and reinstall it on your new computer and all your passwords are still there.
The other option I like is that you simply click on an icon in your app and it will log in for you - no remembering passwords or anything.
Plus if your a university student you get it free.

All people already told you, but try to use passwords that will be similar to webs that you're using. I mean for example web is about games, then use something that assosiates with this web. I know I can't explain, but I hope you understand

I think I know what you mean. I prefer passwords that make me think about the website.
Example: A password that starts with Ap would remind me of my Apple ID. And if it stats with Dr it reminds me of the DroBox thing. And Ms could be for my Microsoft account.
But that means I have to have a printed list of all my passwords. So far I have not gotaround to making a full list, because when I do, I have to erase print it and erase it from my computer. I will need to take the time to do that. :-[

Iam using lastpass to manage my passwords for more than 200 websites and its working really good. You should try this also at once.

Not far removed from simply writing them down, I use text files to record my passwords. Nobody really has physical access to my PC and even if somebody does they would have to know where to look. (Same, I suppose, for password-stealing malware. It's one thing to grab saved form passwords from a browser in a well-known location. it's another to inspect arbitrary user files.
