Hi Bob

You need some diagnostic tools to find out what in the computer is giving trouble and to confirm it isn't a hardware problem. On some systems the Bios is a good place to start. Look in the bios for voltages or health and see if anything is out of spec, there may also be the fan speeds.
Modern bios's have memcheck for testing the system memory this often shows temperatures, memory speed, make and model. Things to look for is the memory modules are the same and the temperatures stay within spec.
A program I like is Parted Magic from here    https://partedmagic.com/
This is a good tool to boot up a system run diagnostics and copy data as a backup.

Not sure what program you mean by Restore IT. Please give a link to the program.

Windows 8 or 8.1 also let you enable Safe Mode with just a few click or taps on its Start screen. Head to the Start screen and press and hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard. Then, while still holding SHIFT, click/tap the Power button and then the Restart option.
