It is stated very well why the group makes a request to check first to see if the question has been asked before. This is a common request in " community forums " as well as computer help forums which I belong to three or at least I once belonged to three computer help forum but I suspect that with inactivity comes excommunication from time to time and i think that there can be an interesting discussion about policies like that and have both sides present their reasoning behind their policy.
That said I'd like to ask how one best goes about searching for a similar question? Clearly certain questions are almost obvious in nature but I was thinking about the time spent looking for " like " questions vs just posting them. I imagine that the regulares here who have seen it all can identify one of those " already asked umteen times types of question and perhaps they can just ignore the question and allow someone else who isn't upset or concerned with the repeat question to simply answer it.
It's been months if not years since I signed in here and it is not because I've figured everything out on my own or that I found a better place to ask my questions and read what is on others minds. As my doctor said not so long ago " this age change doesn't seem to suit you very well " and what he meant was that I surely have a lot more complaints than I had during my last decade. That said, I look around and it seems to me that the world is changing quickly and there are way more people complaining about this or that tha there was prior to the millennium change.I'm sure that can be discussed elsewhere. I've just gotten infected with the new world and the politics of politics.
I really like(d) this group and a few members used to message me from time to time to say hello or to ask a question specific to things that I have posted. Now I wonder if those member are still here or moved on in one way or another?
I posted this in the Win 8 category because I got this great deal on a Win 8 laptop before I knew about all of the complaints that lead to MS offering the upgrade to Win 10 for free. I did that and now I wish that I let WIN 8 exist as it was and took the opportunity to learn from it.
It seems that there is no going back to WIN 8 without purchasing or finding an older computer that still exists with WIN 8. If there is another way to go back to the old OS that I do not know about I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
If you need all of the laptop information that is usually asked for I will need to wait until I get back home and dig it out. So if I do need to provide hardware information and or anything else about the computer that came with WIN 8 please let me know and I will gladly provide all of that information in a couple of weeks.
I need a few other answers about other subjects so I will peruse the pages here to see if I can find answers already answered or I will be sure to find the best forum to post the question in.

Your laptop may still have the factory restore partition, how you access it depends on the laptop. This will restore the laptop back to when you brought it.Some factory recovery procedures help you to backup your data and settings. Even if the recovery does it is worth getting a pen drive and making a Windows 10 recovery disk so if windows 8.1 doesn't live up to expectations you can reload Windows 10.
The search here is a bit hit and miss so google is a good option. Some searches for above would be . Make windows 10 recovery disk and restoring my Dell Inspiron XXXX to factory just insert your make and model .
To find out member activity click on Members above will show all the info the user has entered as well as their activity.
