Title: Looking for a laptop
Post by: bellow on March 08, 2021, 09:06:31 AM
I am only planning on doing web search and typing on the laptop not much else. I am trying to stay under $300. As I said this laptop will be for typing and web searches so it does not have to be high end. Not looking for a tablet or a desktop

At that price point, your best bet is probably a Chromebook.

At $300 for a windows Laptop you may be better looking at refurbished laptops. Look for something with a SSD drive or cheap enough to install an SSD.

Something like this one  https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-thinkpad-t450-14-refurbished-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-180gb-solid-state-drive-black/6318277.p?skuId=6318277

Refurbished does not mean that a computer has had “issues”. Companies regularly change out their machines after a certain number of years as a matter of course. If you look at my computer specs I bought the laptop in Dec. 2017. It was refurbished and I have used it daily for 8 – 10 hours without a bit of trouble. If you're set at a price point of $300 or less, you're probably better off buying refurbished versus buying new.

Look around online or pop into your nearest computer store and you'll find plenty of low-end and affordable Windows laptops to suit your needs. So many laptops are far cheaper than it was two decades ago.
