How can I transfer files between a desktop and a laptop using cable?

For searches within the board, it always end up with nothing I'm looking for.

For search on the site, well, I had no idea on what term to search for in this case.


For the cross-over cable, do I need to set up a connection between the two computer?
Besides the cross-over cable, I think I heard from somewhere before that we can have the connection through USB canle? Is that true?

Crossover cable is the way to go for your simple project.
