Title: MS Outlook forwarding problems
Post by: anonymous1973 on March 10, 2006, 03:32:30 AM
Hi,

We have a machine on our network that is using MS Outlook 2000 as it's email interface. The issue is that we can't forward any emails from the Inbox without them disappearing into thin air.

Although the email reaches it's destination the email is removed from the Inbox. I have checked the other folders and also the rules but I can't seem to fathom what is happening.

If anyone has any ideas then your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If it's actually reaching your inbox then it's doubtful that it's a rule as most rules come into effect before that stage. What happens immediately prior to it's "disappearance"?

Sorry I don't think I made myself clear..

If I try to foward a email from my Inbox to a colleague, the orginal email that was sitting in my inbox disappears.

The email should register in the sent box and it should also remain in my inbox.

I hope this is clear.

Sorry for the confusion - It's one of those days!
I suspect a rule at work here, something like delete on forward. Does the message appear in the deleted folder?

Go to Tools, Options, Preferences tab, E-mail Options (button) and see what boxes you have checked there.  I'm not sure which settings affect this.  Also, I'm using Outlook 2003, so there may be differences.  My guess is you have a check mark in "Close original message on reply or forward" and you do not have a check mark in "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder".  Or, you need to go to the next screen by clicking on Advanced E-mail Options (button) and check your settings there under Save messages.

You might want to check your View settings as well.  Current View should be set to Messages.  Not sure though but are you using rules?
At an rate you could make a copy of the emails before forwarding as a temp fix.
