Title: Sending Emails from outlook
Post by: msralmjs on March 27, 2006, 07:56:22 AM
Hello

I've used outlook express and yahoo mail account for years on a number of different computers. I buy a new computer and transfer across the settings (they are the same) but I can receive but not send emails. The mail server times me out, and this is whether I have my virus scanner on or not. I thought it may have been coincidence but i use another computer with the same settings and it works!!

Any suggestions, could it be something specific to the computer? The only other change I can think about is that it is a wireless network rather than wired, and it isn't operating MS Office but everything else is fine....

Any help is appreciated

Your most likely culprit is your firewall.  Ensure that it is configured to accept communication on ports 25 (outgoing) and 143 (incoming) for IMAP or 110 (incoming) for POP3.

I just want to confirm that you are paying for this Yahoo! account, and it is not the free package?

Does your mail server require SMTP authentication?

What firewall are you using?
