Title: Mouse problem
Post by: suzieqw on March 15, 2004, 09:11:12 AM
I have an optical mouse installed with Windows 2000 Pro. Although the mouse works just fine, it stays on even when the computer is shut down. Is this normal? My sons mouse shuts down when the computer is down. Any help here???

Thanks

If the mouse led still comes on, I suspect you're computer is not shut down but in standby mode. You should consult the user manual or take a look at your bios settings to change how the machine powers off.

If your mouse a wireless optical.  IF so there is a switch under the mouse to turn it off.

Good luck!

Yes, thats usually not normal..
If it is wireless (like already stated) there should be a switch.
But for a wired mouse?
Well, is it USB? (im not sure if optical mice are usb only or not..)
If it is, maybe for some odd reason you have power being constantly supplied to the USB port, which would keep the light on.
Happened to me.. believe it or not, bad wiring :-D
Also, make sure you're not just in Stand-by, as someone already stated, too.

Even though i just restated most of that stuff, i added my own...
heh.

Good luck with that!
