How do I get rid of the little red x in the upper left corner of a picture or grafic?
-
Has it always been this way or did it just start?
You didn't mention any kind of malware protection. If the system is not clean all bets are off.

Twister:
My guess is you have to enable HTML graphics. If you are viewing e-mail with graphics, for example, you may see an option to enable graphics when you are viewing your e-mail with your Web browser.
