okay so i turn on my comp and it shows the black screen with white text, then the norton go-back screen, the counter goes down, then it says.
GoBack Internal Error
Failure code: gb_ui_support(1147)
press any key to reboot.
i cart get it past that screen so i carnt boot windows.
Any ideas with what the error code means and how to fix it?
-
Can you boot in safe mode? Do you have a real Windows CD to reinstall if you need to? Has GoBack ever had problems before?
-
no i carnt boot in safe mode, iv got an original windows 2000 disk but it dont boot it just goes to the goback screen, it happened as soon as i install goback.
-
Can you make sure that CDROM is set first in boot order in the BIOS?
-
floppy's first then CD drive then harddrive
-
And when you boot with the real Windows CD in there you do not see "Press any key to boot from CD"?
-
the comp just acts like theres no disk in the drive, i tryed booting up with out my hdd connected and the go back screen still shows up:s?
-
sorry i got that wrong my slave drive was still connected
-
What are the specifics on this machine?

This looks like the top contender for "Dont Put This Software On Your Computer"award. :o :o :o :o

thanks for the links.
my comps specs:
intel P4 ht
FIC P4M-915G/PDI mother board
2x 512 ram
2x 200gb SATA hdd
anything else you need to know?
-
Read those links on how to remove this worthless software immediately!
-
so i go into recovery consol, but it asks for a administrator pass word, but iv never set one, is there away to change it or turn it off?
-
Are you the Administrator and only user of this computer? If so, it was set to something when Windows was loaded. You can try to leave the space blank, but I suspect there IS a password. Did you buy it new or load XP on an existing PC?
-
okay i got into recovey console, did the FIXMBR command the rebooted, now when i turn on my comp it says error loading operating system:(
-
Is there valuable data on that drive? You might be able to get by with a repair install from that same bootable XP CD. Try that option. If no-go, we will try something else.
If it were me, I would get the data off and then format that drive and reinstall XP without Go Back.
-
nope theres nothing that needs keeping on the hard drive, i only have a windows 2000 that my mate lent me
-
Format away then, and consider this experience as a lesson learned.
-
thanks for all your help, and lesson learned:)
-
Good luck in the future and we'll keep a light on. ;)

-
Those beeps are diagnostic to the problem encountered:

-
Back again:(
ok so i fixed the beeping my grafics card was not in properly
Now im in windows for some reason my cd drives arnt showing up in my computer, or device manager. this computer is really *censored* pissing me off now, its problem after problem.
-
It is highly likely that you disturbed the data cable connection, probably on the motherboard when you reseated the graphics card, no doubt by accident.
Check on this and that the cables are firmly seated there AND into the optical drives.
Go into the BIOS and see if the drives are recognized now. If they are not seen in the BIOS they will not functional in WIndows, obviously.
Let us know.
-
erm, what do i look in bios to find my drives?
-
Do you know how to get there? What make and model of computer or motherboard?
Look to see if the hard drive(s) are listed and then below that is usually the optical drive(s). They may say CDROM for all and that's OK, just as long as they show. What is shown depends on the exact equipment.
-
My motherboard is a FIC P4m-915G/PDI
and yes i know how to get into bios
-
sounds similar to what it did to me
when it was enabled it rebooted my PC once and then after that it wouldnt let me reach the logon page of windows XP so at the end i just disabled it
-
go back is worthless it just gives you random error messages and then sometimes like what we have here it wont let you use your computer.
