Title: Automatically start up from the only user account
Post by: Blackberry on June 30, 2006, 12:59:42 AM
Hi there

On this PC I only have one account. The account isn't password protected. The thing is, if windows xp boots, you still have to click on the name of that user account. I don't reallly like that. So does anybody knows how you boot automitically (without still clicking on the name in the welcomescreen) from this only account, not password protected

thanks

Control Panel-->User Accounts-->Change the way users log on or off-->Disable "Use the Welcome screen".

thanks for the quick response, rob. Unfortuniatly this isn't the solution. If I do this, I still get a screen (an other, more like the windows 98 login screen, with the ok and cancel buttons) and I still have to click on OK. It doesn't boot automaticly from that acount. Any other  ideas?

If this may help you, here's a print screen:

you can put auto logon information in the Registry under winlogon

As Strings

DefaultUserName : BLARG!!
DefaultPassword : BLARG!!s password

AutoAdminLogon : 1

i think there may be a AutoUserLogon as well
Detaied instutions

Oops; there's a bit more to it!

Start-->Run. "control userpasswords2" [enter]

Users-->Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"

The rest is self-explanatory.

Sorry I can't translate this for you!  ;)
