Post by: Jeronimo_Mc_Kinsley on July 14, 2006, 06:15:24 AM
Hye guys !
I've got IE 6.0.2900.2180 and since I updated it sumhow I can't open sites properly. First I always get that typicall site saying :Cannot open ...bla bla bla... please check our settings....do this do that... Well I've tried everything they told me 2 do with the settings but it doesn't help. :-[

Is there any known update causing this problem ? (It started AFTER an update, don't know which though). It's really annoying 2 reload EVERY SINGLE site b4 u can actually c it :-/

Thanx in advance guys :)

We know nothing about your Internet connection, any previous problems,  operating system, service packs, etc. First make sure all updates are applied, then try this in IE:

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Security tab
6. Reset all 4 security zones to Default

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Privacy
6. Restore 1 Default button

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Advanced
6. Restore 1 Default button

You may need to do the following as well

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. General tab
6. Remove cookies, temporary files and history

Thanx 4 the ideas but they didn't work :'(
My specs:
OS: Windows XP
service packs: SP2, updated 2 the full extent
IE version 6.0.2900.2180
Internet connection: DSL/broadband with W-LAN (NO PROXY)

Problem description:
Page doesn't instantly load. I need 2 reload the page 1 or more times until it works. Sometimes the page doesn't completely load and doesn't show any format.

previous problems:
on previous Windows installation : the same problem
on current windows installation: none

problems started after a certain SP2 update, but I don't know which 1
My question again:
Which SP2 update is known 4 causing this kind of problem ? ---or---- What could cause this problem ?

SP2 is one big update. You can't separate things out and SP2 will be mandatory shortly.

If you don't use automatic updates, you can add one at a time until you find the culprit, IF this is what is causing the problem.
