Title: High pitched sounds

I recently bought a refurbished Dell with Windows 2000 Professional and an AC'97 sound card. At first everything worked normally, then suddenly all the sounds became an octave higher than they should be. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the sound card itself or if the processor is running too fast, but if anyone can give me some advice on how to fix this problem (or at least figure out what's causing it) I'd appreciate it.

I'm using a Dell with Windows 2000 Professional, 10GB hard drive,  Uniplex Half-Duplex Audio Device, Intel(R) 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller...let me know what other info you need. It worked fine at first, the only thing I remember installing before it started acting up is AOL. I tried uninstalling that but it didn't help. Other than that I'm stumped as to what I can do.

What is the model number or Service Tag? Have you played with any drivers recently? Any known hardware or other issues?

Where is the model number located? I haven't done anything to any of the drivers, and haven't had issues with any other hardware.

Just get the service tag. It is on the BIOS/setup screen. (F2 at boot)
