i ordered my new laptop last night and its already in the testing stage.. how long do you think it will take in the testing stage?? its a Inspiron B130, Intel Pentium M 735 (1.70GHz/2MB Cache/400MHz FSB) with 1gb of ram and a 60 gb hdd. and everything else stock

well i think its in the boxing stage now. but it shouldnt take that long to box a laptop. or i hope it wouldnt take that long. cuz i didnt get any software with it so there is no cd's only the laptop and the carrying case is coming in a different box. so i dont know why its going to take til next tuesday to get shipped out. unless they just want to tease me with the extra wait time. and it should get to me by next friday or the following tuesday. it best get here by this friday lol..

im going to use mandriva 2006, cuz i want to use a different os besides windows and ive wanted to learn linux.

OK, that's a good one. Do you have the Mandriva One CD? It is a LIVE CD that is installable also. That will allow you to test your sound, video and wireless connectivity before going through an install.

All 3 of what?
You boot with the Mandriva One CD and you get a running linux system that runs from the CD (similar to Slax, that I mention occasionally).
There is an icon on the desktop that allows you to start the install right there. It's a pretty simple affair.

There are different versions. Do they all say Mandriva One?
If so, you can boot it up in your current computer and just play around with it. Your hard drive is safe. ;)

You may have Mandriva 2006, or even an earlier version. You can either use that or download and use the Mandriva One CD. It is a Live CD that you can also install easily with. It is the latest consumer version. ;)

my laptop should be here sometime this afternoon!!!!!! ;D and its my real bday today so thats a sweet bday present, but the only bad thing is that i have an english class tonight(first day of class) :'( but oh well at least i get my laptop.

ok i got my new laptop around 4:30 5:00 my time yesterday, but i was at dinner for my birthday, so i didnt have much time to play with it, i got home around 6:10 just enough time to get it out of the box and put it in the carrying case i buy with it and go to class. when i got home from work and hooked it up to the internet i guess the wildtanget was wanting for me cuase i got infected with 12 entys of that. spybot found them after i downloaded spybot aadware ewido windows defender and i have pc-cilin. i just got done doing an ad-aware scan and it found an possible browser hijack. so that just goes to show how fast infections can get into ur computer without any protection. i was just downloading the protection i didnt go to my mail or myspace anything. tonight im going to try and put linux and ever quest 2 on my laptop. sorry for the long post about nothing, im just happy cuz i got my new laptop. ;D

we dont have desks we have tables but we can sit anywhere we want so i can sit by an outlet if i need to.

Yes Windows machines can get infected al,ost instantaneously on the net with no protection.
Always a good idea to have all of your protection loaded from CD's BEFORE even attempting a connection.
