Title: Computer will not shutdown
Post by: clacksfsr on March 31, 2004, 07:56:09 PM
When I attempt to shutdown the computer, I get the message "Taskmon has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL" and the program will close.  However, the computer will not shutdown.  I have replaced the 98 SE operating system with ME hoping to cure the problem.  No luck.  Because I have to shutdown manually, I have to go through a disc scan each time I turn on the computer.  The computer also hangs up on startup - don't know if this is due to the improper shutdown.  I have removed most of the programs from the start menu to correct this, but without success.  HELP! >:(

rename the applog to applog2 folder in the \\windows folder on the root of c:  You will have to go into folder options to view all files first to be able to view the applog folder. Check out the ms article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;197791
