Post by: rekerlol on November 21, 2006, 05:12:43 PM
Ok so i just started up a new wireless connection and stuff. but when i try to connect to the network i get the error message saying. "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks and try again." But the thing is the router and my computer like no further away then 1 foot from eachother.

Any ideas?

It would help to have a model number for the router.  As for your network card, right-click on My Computer; click Properties.  Hardware-->Device manager.  Expand network adapters.  Report what you see.

Warning: there may be several steps required to fix this.  Stick with it.  :)

Have you connected to this router by a cable yet, and configured it?

Like rob said try and configure the router by a cat 5 cable.
I would resent the router plug the labtop is conected via a hard wire, open IE and type "routerlogin" this will bring you to the configeration. Make sure the wierless is active and you have no encription to start. Also you may want to check to see what speed your router is b;g;a and make shure your wierless card can handel it. Most routers and cards are backwards compatable, but you never know. I know in a netgear router you can also tell it to onlly sent out one signal again b;g;a.

Were here to help,
