Hi,
I have a speedstream 4100 dsl modem, which uses 192.168.0.1 and (as far as I know) that can't be changed. Therefore, I can't turn on ICS. I have both my computer and xbox hooked up to a linksys hub, and no matter what settings I change, I can't get them both to connect at the same time. What should I do?

Why do you say the use of 192.168.0.x prevents internet connection sharing?
If you can't get it working, your easiest option is to buy an ADSL router.

because every time I try to turn on ICS, it says it can not be turned on because the computer sharing the connection would have to be set to 192.168.0.1 but something on the network is already using 192.168.0.1

Okay, well I see no reason why you can't change the internal IP address assigned to your modem. Have a look in the networking FAQ (link in my signature). Also consider working through >these ICS instructions< (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/ics_xp).
I can't be more specific about the ICS installation procedure, because I've never attempted it. At the end of the day, there's no real substitute for a router.

Well can anyone tell me how to do this on the speedstream 4100?

I looked at those but I don't see anything about changing the speedstream 4100's ip :-?

1. Conet the router directly to the computer via. a cat 5 cable if not already done.
2. Open up IE and type in the IP adress of the router or "http://speedstream" exatly as it is in the quotes.
3. On the left hand collom click setup and then DHCP.
These next steps can be seen in the picture attached.
4. Change the "default gateway" to the new router IP
5. Then adjust the "Start and Ed IP ranges as desiered"
6. Make sure the "IP Netmask" is 255.255.255.0
7.Click save sttings.
That should do it lem me know what happens.

again you need a router to solve this problem.
