I want to be able to charge my cell phone via front USB ports on my computer. For some reason, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My friend says I probably need the correct USB drivers for it to function properly. Does anyone have a clue where I can find them? I searched google, but didn't come up with anything. Hopefully you guys can help as you have helped me in the past. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried it in the rear ports ? ?
Not a solution but worth a try.

Both rears are in use.

But is it worth a try to solve the problem?

It didn't work. I am positive it is a driver issue.

Interesting. I uninstalled the driver that was associated with the front USB ports and now the phone is charging. Not sure what sense that makes, but it seems to be working now. Either way, I would feel better if I had the correct USB drivers for the phone. Thanks again for the assistance.

Is it possible that those drivers are OS specific ? ?
We don't know what you are running...

I've seen before also where you can have a device draw too much power on your USB port and cause the port to shut off and it can be intermittent if you are borderline maximum amperage draw.
I had this happen with a Non-Power Injected 5-port USB HUB and 5 Pen Drives plugged in at the same time.
The fix was to get a USB HUB with power injection for $20
You could also power your phone off just a powered HUB with an AC Adapter vs drawing on your systems power supply when charging...
Just Some ideas ..... :-/

I am running XP. It seems to just randomly turn on and off. Sometimes, although the phone was charging for ~8 hours, it will only be 1/4 charged. Maybe I am having a power issue...

Well, my spex are in my sig. Does it look like I should be having a power issue?
