Title: Hard Drive Interface Cables
Post by: Kip on November 30, 2006, 11:48:14 AM
I have an ATA (IDE) 40-pin interface connector and a new SATA hard drive. How should I connect the SATA hard drive to my computer?

If you need more hardware information, I can PM you an EVEREST Home Edition report.

If your motherboard does not have a SATA connector, you'll need to install a  sata controller card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?DEPA=0&type=&Description=sata+controller+card&Submit=ENE&N=0&Ntk=all&Go.x=0&Go.y=0 ).

Thank you for the link.
After looking at all the different choices, I decided it would be easier (and cheaper) to return the SATA hard drive and get a hard drive with the correct interface connector.  :-[

You made a good choice. Less confusion and less hardware.
